‘Hotel California’ is a track from the Eagles’ album of the same name which was released in 1977. The song is considered the best known recording by the band. In 1998 its long guitar coda /a passage that brings a piece to an end/ was voted the best guitar solo of all time. It was awarded the Grammy Award for Record of the Year in 1978. The lyrics of the song have been interpreted by fans and critics alike. The Eagles themselves describe the song as their interpretation of the high life in Los Angeles. According to one of the band’s members the song is about the journey from innocence to experience.
