The Magic “e” Rule
When there is an “e” at the end of the word, it makes the vowel long and we don’t read it. How does it work? The magic “e” hits the vowel with its magic wand and says: “Say your name!” In fact we pronounce the long vowel with its letter name.
There are different ways to spell the long vowels. The standard one and with the magic ”e”. Look and say:
ai – a_e ee – e_e ie – i_e oa – o_e ue – u_e
