English as a Foreign Language for Pre-schoolers
With our youngest pupils we use a special teaching method based on using games, songs, rhymes and visuals. In order to build the literacy basics we use the phonetic course Jolly English. Thus they acquire the three skills:
1.Learning English letter sounds;
2.Blending for reading;
3.Letter sound recognition in words.
In other words children learn how to read English phonetic words after learning the first six letter sounds. This is a truly effective multisensory programme which develops all five senses of the kids and each letter sound is taught by a special movement, story and song. Besides developing the reading skills we develop the fine motor skills of the children as well as their basic vocabulary. Jolly English is a good prelude to Jolly Phonics, the programme we use with our primary pupils.
